One of our 5th graders, who goes by the name William, shared his very own "How to Draw Nate" page. Check out his mad skills, then try your own, using William's guide to help you.Over half of the homerooms have already earned their first Smart Art Party by filling the Color Wheel up with *good* days in Art. Students seem to enjoy playing Whatchamadrawit, making shaving cream marble paintings, and popping colorful bubbles on their paper. Let's get all those color wheels filled now! Check out more of her cut paper collages on COLOSSAL.
That's the question fifth graders had to answer for their first project. We've got some amazing answers so far. Artist Journal Cover Designs in progress: Fifth and sixth graders are currently working on their cover designs for their artist journals. The projects are slightly different, but both grades are working with the principle of design, PATTERN! Check out these up and coming designers below! We've got some great students in SOAR with Art this quarter and they've been working hard on their independent projects. Students started by picking an artist that inspired them and researched that artist. Then created a plan for their own artwork. Here are some "in progress" shots of their masterpieces. The first project of the year asks students to design the cover of their new artist journals. Fifth grade students are using LINE and SHAPES to create PATTERN, UNITY, and show their IDENTITY. Sixth graders, on the other hand, are using a personal object as the emphasis of their covers and then will surround the traced object with patterns and color schemes. Great ideas so far, Rockets! Keep it up! You can see my sample 5th grader project below.
