In addition to my trip to Mexico, I was also fortunate enough to show and sell some of my artwork this summer. My brother, Dylan, and I both participated in a Pee Wee Herman art show and we ended up selling our artwork. Here you can see the three pieces I embroidered for the show. There was also a super fun photobooth at the show!
Heyyy Riverside! I hope your summer has been fun, restful, and just a little bit adventurous. I've had a SPECTACULAR time traveling the world, seeing great art, and making some too. Here are some of my Summer 2014 Highlights! I climbed a pyramid! This is The Pyramid of the Sun in the ancient city ruins of Teotihuacan, just outside Mexico City. This is the third largest pyramid in the world. After making it to the top I also got a pretty good view of it's sister pyramid, The Pyramid of the Moon. Learn more about this amazing pre-Hispanic city here: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/414. I also got to see some killer street art in Mexico City, Morelia, and beyond. While Mexico had some good murals and wheatpaste pieces, the stickers were my favorite part of the street art culture. Google has recently started a new site called the Street Art Project. If you'd like to see street art around the world check it out! Another awesome part of this adventure was a trip to legendary Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo's famous Casa Azul. Her beautiful blue home in Coyoacan was definitely on my bucket list and I'm so glad I got to experience it. I saw the bed she was confined to as a young adult, where she first started to paint, along with her personal studio just as she left it. Check out more about her here: http://mocomi.com/frida-kahlo/ |
