This week students in the Smart Art Party Exploration got to experiment with sand painting and wax resist. Check out their cool creations.
This week the Scenic Art team met for Drama Club. We worked on some of the props for our March production, "The Last Apple Tree." Mr. Chattertail will soon have his hazelnut and Mr. Wisepaw, his radish. After Thanksgiving we'll be building the tree and stump and painting the side panels. It's gonna be a gooey few weeks! Before fall break, we held a special convocation to recognize those students who have exhibited Perseverance and Respect. While there, we also got to witness the extra special cutting of Mr. Schmidt's lovely locks. During fall break, Ms. Cobb and I discovered a local favorite. Bob Hunt is a self-taught paper mache artist out of Edwardsburg, MI. Now that we're back, fifth graders have started carving their street art messages into foam plates. We'll be printing this week! In honor of Day of the Dead, here are some of my favorite pieces of skull or "calaveras" art found on Pinterest. If you don't know much about this holiday, get to know the facts here.
